so i have a netgear g wireless router, netgear wireless notebook adapter and pci card (for the main rig). when we (striker777 and I) installed the pci card, we instantly ran into problems. it would do an illegal operation right when the software loaded up. somehow, striker got it working fine, and all was well... until i upgraded my system.
a new board, new chip and new hdd were the most recent additions to my system. i loaded win xp, got everything else working then i tackled the pci wireless card... or so, it tackled me. with the software installed, i would get the following error messages upon startup:

i searched these messages on google and found that others had similar problems. netgear provides no answer to these errors. i tried every possible setting i knew of, nothing. tried putting it in another computer, only with the same results.
lesson learned - avoid netgear.
so i was left with this situation. the only internet jack in the apt. is in the living room, with our computers in the bedroom. i bought a 50ft cat5 cable, strung it from the living room to the bedroom, then plugged it into my pc via the onboard nic. i then put in a second nic, shared my first connection, and outputted this to the wireless routher (the problem earlier was with the pci card, not the router). i then output from the router to the 2nd pc, and everything works like a charm.
