Found this article while browsing through Slashdot (http://slashdot.org) today. We've already seen this with the various Everquest problems, but video gaming can now be considered an addiction, and there are phsycologists dedicated to helping video game addicts.
One myth might be that video games are engrossing but not addictive.
"This is an exciting form of technology that kids really, really like," says David Walsh of the Minneapolis-based National Institute on Media and the Family. "As a psychologist, I understand why it's so engaging. It's Psych 101 -- stimulus and response."
This seems like a very biased article as far as I am concerned, which is common among a non-biased media that has a habit of promoting the 'video game's promote violence' idea. Perhaps if these kids had parents who were a little bit more in control of their children's lives you wouldn't have 'Jaysen's' getting up in the middle of the night to play Socom 2.
