There's really no other option... why use ball when you can use optical?

Really the choice is obvious.Optical mice are better. A more difficult question would be: trackball vs mouse . People that get used to trackballs find them to be much better.

Cant beat a wireless optical. Love freedom. No tug. No cables. No worry.

So Logitech has a Laser mouse out now, instead of optical, they say it's even more precise. Anyone knows more?

There are quite a few reviews out there on the mx1000. Just search. Its resolution is 800dpi though just like other logitech mice.
Actually i prefer wired for gaming, they are better (lighter). And more specifically i like the Razer Viper mouse(1000dpi  )

I've got both an mx510 and mx700(wireless). I use the mx510 on my main rig, mainly for its weight (you get use to a heavy mouse, but really can wear you out after a long lan). The mx510 does feel just ever so slightly more responsive/accurate too (I wrote a review (http://ocia.net/reviews/logitech_mx510/logitech_mx510.shtml) on this mouse a while back

Sometimes I preffer ball mouse, but not all the time . I'm really really happy with my Creative Mouse Optical 5000 (800 DPi), it have good precision and works in so much sites.

Friend of mine upgraded from an mx700 to an mx510 to an mx1000, claims the difference in feel is noticeable, and it of course works on more surfaces with greater accuracy than optical mice....

Why would anyone ever prefer a ball mouse??? They get dirty, break easier, and are all around less reliable. After having had optical it's safe to say I'll never go back to a ball mouse.
