I can't come up with a nice result for that equation, no offense, people do what they do, I'm just opposed to kids having kids.... (I'm all for waiting to grow up and be responsible and able to support and care for a child in all the right ways.) maybe I'm just getting old and bitter, but that doesn't add up for me. ;)

Heh, a lot of both. I came off of a 28.8 internet connection at home to college broadband, and I'm not involved in any sports. So when I'm not working or in class, I'm usually hanging out around the dorm, which conveniently contains my computer. :P

You can also legally enter into contracts, legally buy longguns, and get married in all states without parental consent.
You can also join the military, go to war, and die...but can't legally buy a damn beer...which is about the stupidest thing I know of.
Yep, you can vote...but don't waste your first one like I did...by voting for Jimmy Carter. :vomit:

Not in the states. The drinking age on military posts went 100% to 21 in 1986, if I'm not mistaken. The only way you could drink younger is be stationed in a country where the drinking age is under 21.

congrats. you should see the democrats wandering around campus here. they have their little booth set up everyday, jammin down to stuff like John Mellencamp(sp??). Last week they were givin away free pizza. the best story about them goes a little something like this:
i'm sittin in the cafeteria one day, and can here them jammin down outside. then all of a sudden some wanker starts yellin into a microphone and walkin around on the memorial outside. he looks like a tent preacher out there, but he's yammerin on about how kerry is gonna save the country, blah blah blah. i'm in complete disgust, but hey, it's a free country, they can do what they want. so i'm mindin my business eatin, and laughin at this looney outside still preachin about kerry, when i see a guy in the cafeteria handin out flyers about kerry. he hands one to the guy behind me, and i hear paper being smushed and torn. then he throws it back at him, which really pissed the guy off. i am nearly in the floor when he lays one on my table.
i have two choices at this point. be considerate and just thank the guy for giving me the piece of paper or do like the guy behind me, wad it up and throw it at the guy. beind a strong bush supporter, but not wanting to stoop to the level of the near riot getting ready to break free, i decide to just fold it in half and throw it away with the rest of my lunch trash.
so i throw it away, but the kerry loser confronts me about it.
"What are you doin?!?!?!"
"Well it appears i'm throwing away my trash"
"Yeh, but you threw away that flyer with it"
"Like i said, i'm throwing away trash"
"Whatever man, you don't know what you're talkin about"
I refrained from taking further action, namely tellin the guy exactly what HE doesn't know about, or even just questioning to see what he did know, or if he's just a democrat pullin the "democrat handle" at the booth.
so anyway, to top it off, i am leaving and walking by the democrat booth, when i hear a young lady say "hey, can i give you a Kerry flyer?" granted, at least she was being nice about it, but i'm already livid at this point. my reply...... "No thanks, I just finished throwing one away"
Zing!!!! she was speechless. (on a side note, the Kerry tent preacher was still going strong)

I touched a lil alchol this weekend myself, hung out with kryo and some friends. Had some politcal talks, nothing like a riot or a fight. I am a democrat, but i dont see the need to vote, as our vote doesnt do any good, because it can go either way in the electoral college. I think the system needs to be re done to where the people have a say, not some deuche that votes for his party instead of who actually won. As far as Kerry and Bush are concerned, you just got to pick the lesser of 2 evils, I was for John Edwards, people may not like trial lawyers, but if it wasnt for trial lawyers, we all could get fucked by our jobs if they are non union, there are alot of bull shit lawsuits, but to me John Edwards, seemed more like the Middle Class kind of guy. He did marry or inherit his money, he actually worked for it. I supported him, not Kerry, but unfortunately for him, he lost my vote by saying I will not accept the vice president, im going to be president, then turns around and he took the vice president spot. If I vote it will be democratic, because I cant stand bush, or any of his views.

On the electoral College... I dont know that it is such a bad thing. Without it no one would even care about states with a small populous. Montana, Wyoming, West Virginia...... However I do think that there are two things that totally unfair about it.
1. Whoever wins a state get ALL of that states votes. even 49% to 51%. In a situation like that 49% of the people dont get a say in who the president is.
2. In a small state the ratio of people per electoral vote is much less than that of a large state. So in a sense the a vote in Wyoming is "worth" much more than the same vote in California. This is supposed to be an "equal" representaion.
I dont think the electoral college should be removed completely, because no one would care about the small states and the issues that they face. I feel that the best way to go is a proportional system. In other words, as fairly as possible the states electoral votes are divided proportional to the way the citizens in that state voted. Say you have 10 electoral votes, 10% go third party, 40% dem and 50% rep. 1 electoral vote goes to the third party, 4 to dem, 5 to rep.
I know that not all numbers will work out so "pretty" but just use simple math. This way, everyone's vote counts. Even the third party candidates can get some electoral votes and little states are still important.
I just think its a little more fair........
