I used to quite often back in HS... I've since cut it out most of the time. I've been known to drop a dang now and then :)

I actually dropped a few fbombs after a crappy Digital Logic test though (how nerdy is that). All I can say is a 1 question worth 60%, question itself only had 7 words in it, and was on something we really didn't cover, and I know my stuff pretty well in there.

Only when I'm awake!

Let's see...I worked on the river for over six years, was a paratrooper in the army for over seven...I've had lots of practice.

Actually, I was cussing like a sailor by the time I was 12 years old.

I tend to avoid it. I swore a lot starting back at the beginning of high school, and a smart kid who swears among idiots who swear is a danger to society. I was very good at composing creative and long strings of swear words. However, I came to a point in high school where I got right with God and changed a lot of crap in my life, and that was one of the things that went. The instances now where I swear are few and far between, one that comes to mind is last winter, my cat got outside and ran around the house. There was a foot and a half of snow and I was in socks. As I ran around a corner my feet slipped, and I, in jeans, a tshirt, and socks, went face first into the snow. It was wet snow. That was enough to induce a break. :)

i've been known to let a few spill out, particularly at LANs. besides, all the stress of school, work, married life and kids will do that to a man. :-)

Caj, I understand your point of view about God, but remember that "bad words" are creations of man, not of God. GD or using God's name in vain would be the only two really "bad words" that the bible talks about. The rest are words that over the years society has deemed unclean. For instance:

F*ck - used to be an abbreviation for fornication in public, which earned a citation from a "cop"
@ss - an animal, but one that is looked upon as less than a horse.
D@mn - speaks of hell, however, for obvious reasons it's looked upon as vulgar

then there are of course all kinds of words describing physical parts of the body, etc that are considered explicit because they originated with the "common people" instead of originating in the "upper class"

Hell yes i speak with a bad tongue.

Kryo, the bible actually speaks of doing away with foul language out your mouth. So if society deams them unclean - or foul - its wrong. I make mistakes and let them slip every once in a while. For me its a lot at work for some reason. I would like to stop altogether though, it used to seem really cool and <word> rebellious <word> I guess. Now I just seems ignorant (not directed at anyone) for me to cuss.

I thought this was about language not religion.. ;)

Beemer

erm, both - they work together. Reason why/why you dont cuss.

"Do you use explicit language?"

It doesn't ask for a reason why... :)

About explicit language, not the bible.

Beemer
10-12-2004, 12:59 PM
Its still relevant to the topic being discussed, I am just saying that for me personally I would like to get away from it. Thats just part of the reason why. Again, I dont direct it at anyone else, it just my personal reason why.

lol, reminds me of a quote from a popular chick movie (which i was forced to watch....repeatedly)

"You give me any word, and I can prove it has a Greek origin"

may seem way off base for some, but i was thinkin how discussions turn religious around here alot.

Religion, like politics, should be left out, really... people have very strong opinions about what they believe in...

I'm not religious... I respect that people have something to keep them going, just a general comment. :)

It does create some forum activity though......

Frequently, and loud!
but they are just words, I'm sure the bible speaks to the emotion behind the words whatever they may be.
Are you directing anger towords others? frustration at yourself? at objects (now that's stupid!)
Orgainized religon has pushed society towords blaming only certain words, without really dealing with the true meaning.

We were so close to being off the religon thing, you bring up a good point though. I agree very much with that statement.

Anyway, about the original question, yes I have cussed, still do, but would like to stop, and I will leave it at that.

Oh, that said, I do try to control my language around (most of the ) people who would be offended . (there are a few with such a hypocritical attitude, that I can't resist poking them a little)

I actually dropped a few fbombs after a crappy Digital Logic test though (how nerdy is that).

I actually remember you dropping the f bomb at one of our last lans. complaining about the incompetence of the people who don't know how to patch stuff and hit the network. it was quite funny seeing you lose it honestly.

About this thing of bible/religion/language, turning into moderator headache.

I don't exactly abuse the language although I do use it a lot towards people who have an I.Q. of lampshades.

hehe, ive never heard the f-word referenced as the 'f bomb'... lol

as for me, i just talk. if something comes out, it comes out, oh well. of course, i have enough respect to not talk like this around certain people. my dad even thinks i dont cuss, which is rather funny.

also, people with an I.Q. of lampshades... hehe, good stuff, ill have to remember that one...

Working at a luxury car dealership I'm required to compose myself in a professional manner aaaaallllllll daaaayyyyy loooooonnnnggg... usually.. I control myself there and everywhere else like around kids/etc, I'm respectful (obviously), but under the right circumstances or upon the right occurances, bad words come out rather fluently.

If anyone remembers back when I posted that picture of my finger missing a good portion of the tip, that would be such an occurance.

( if you didn't/you're curious.. http://www.fawkit.org/finger2.jpg -- I still have it, how sick am I? :? )

Been a long time since I heard it referred to as the F bomb.

And more foul language finds its way out of my mouth than is considered ladylike. I blame this on my mother.

In the case of the bastard who tried to run me off the highway yesterday though, I hope every single one of them finds their way branded onto his forehead in an excruciatingly painful manner.

Whats hard to break? Finishing words, or using correct spacing between words?
