This would've been a poll, but there isn't enough room for all the possible pets... ;)
I have a ball python, Gnibbles, she's about 2 years.. 33/34":

No pets currently, but debating getting a cat again, as they're relatively easy to care for, and since I live in an apartment, dogs generally are not allowed.

Male Siberian Husky named Zeus
Unfortunately moving out into my own place and getting married meant we didn't have room/money for him right now, so he's with the rents for a few months. Ironic that we were able to bring the wifey's dog (though she is a very small dog). I did get to take the 3rd bedroom as my office though :-)

I've been thinking about getting another snake for a while... :D
I'd recommend a red tail boa, very mild mannered and gorgeous (if you get a true redtail) If you decide on a red tail you want one that has a golden/redish/yellowish color with bright red tail and spots, and not one that is kind of grey with red spots.
The bigger pythons (burmese and reticulated) can be really aggresive, trust me you get bit by a 12' burmese python you KNOW you have been bit, and nothing you can do but sit there and bleed till it decides to let go
heres a couple of pics showing the difference in the red tails

I've been bitten by snakes mote times than i can remember, usually not much pain involved but it scares the crap out of ya when they strike.
The time i got bit by the 12' burmese I had just been playing with one of my friends ferrets and stepped inside the snake enclosure to move one of them, she smelled the ferret on my hamds and struck, had my whole hand in her mouth for about 5 minutes till she realized i wasnt food and relaxed.

hehe yeah.. "oops"
I read up a lot before I got her... I used to feed her in a box, now I just use the bath tub.. to avoid getting bit at all costs lol
she's never even hissed at any one so far... :)
I know what they mean about reading their body movements now too, though, so that helps..

I got 2 dogs, 1 dog is getting to be old and she is starting to slow down, but shes a great dog. Friendly, smart and is very protective. She has got part lab, golden retreaver, and part german shepard, you can see the lab and retreaver on here, the german shepard you can tell by her attitude. I was mowing grass and had a dog come down the ally growling at me, i had a boot waiting on it if it got close (had steel toes on) and my dog came running out there, broke her chain, and jumped the fence, rolled the other dog around and it ran off, she came over to my side and i chained her back up. Sad she has to stay on a chain, but if she gets out of the yard, she is going to get hit by a car since we are in the city. the other dog is annoying, nothing great to say about her, other than she is fat and eats alot.

im the exact opposite there. everyone ive known that has owned dogs, well, i just cant stand em. we stayed with some folks over the summer who had 3 dogs. one was weird, one was really cool (except it shed wayyy too much) and the other was completely psycho, seriously. the dog would bark, growl and just go nuts EVERY morning as people were getting ready for work/school. it even bit kim a few times for no reason.
some other people i know have two big black pit bulls. now why in the hell would you want a dog/s like that? they destroy everything in the house (including the house itself), stink, and are just a hassle.
i have yet to find a dog that i really like. you have to take them outside to use the bathroom, and nearly every one i have seen just isnt cuddly/loveable.
now cats, on the other hand, are the perfect pet. no need to wake up in the middle of the night to take them outside. when they are young, they are just the cutest things! my last cat was the most loveable animal ever. it rarely left my lap. it slept with me in the bed (and didnt take up the whole bed like a big dog would). they dont bark like crazy for no reason like a lot of dogs do. none of my cats ever tore the house up. again, the perfect pet :)

Heh, that's probably why Keith hasn't ventured into this thread. ;) Never seen one person so afraid of snakes before. Makes me feel way too tomboyish since I used to catch them when I was younger.
I don't stand on either side of the cat/dog battefield. I have a cat right now who *thinks* he's a dog, so I get a little of both worlds. I also have a red-eared slider that I caught in a lake at my dad's house about three years ago.
I'd really like to have another German shepherd someday. I had one before I moved to Memphis and she was one of the most intelligent, well-behaved animals I've ever owned, even if she was a huge kleptomaniac. If not a German shepherd, then an Australian shepherd, which we owned when I was still a toddler.

I find it to be hillarious... I used to be scared of snakes... but after researching ball pythons a lot, then holding her and having her for a while... I think most people are just primally afraid of how they move and the way they swallow their prey whole. Nothing else really comes to my mind that eats that way, except maybe certain lizards, but they're usually done in a single gulp.
Not to mention the snake's bad rep in the Bible. I think that has a *lot* to do with it.

You wanna know why people are afraid of snakes, its because they are trained from the day that they can understand that snakes are bad. You can ask most people why they are afraid of or dont like snakes and they'll say because they are slimy, then ask em if they have ever touched one and they'll say no.
People arent naturally afraid of most things, they have to either be taught they should be afraid, or something actually happen to make them afraid. When i was a kid my neighbor had 5-6 beehives in his backyard, I was never afraid of bees because he taught me to NOT be. My wife is SCARED SENSELESS of bees and shes never been close to one, because she was taught growing up that she should be scared of em.

I hate snakes, my g/f lives in B.F.E. or the "Country", so half the time when it was warm, i would have to sit in the car and wait sometimes till the copperhead would go away long enough for me to run in the house. She hates spiders, and i have no problem with them, we had a black widow in our bush out front that is an archway over the sidewalk. I was triming the bush and the thing feel out. It was about the size of a 50 cent piece, i got a jiff peanut butter jar, put some holes in it, and freaked out my g/f. Maybe Im the devil, i consider it payback for the snakes.

i have got 6 red belly piranhas i have had them for about 8 months now, i originally had 8 they were all about 2 inches long apart from two of them which were slightly smaller about 1.5 inches long.
unfortunatly after a couple of months the two smaller ones got eaten by the others!! (survival of the fittest i guess)
but now i have got six healthy piranhas measuring about six inches long and apart from the odd fight they live together pretty happilly.

I've had her for 3 years and she's become pretty normal after all this time. Her only claim to fame is to hog webcams. By that I mean she either sits/nap right in front of it or on top of it. And since I use the cams to watch my appartment when I'm away, I always wonder why it's so dark home... :)

Sadly I have to lock them out of my room when I leave... 24" and 19" screen to shred, lots of wires to chew on, watercooling tubes, etc.....

Question is Bio, what were you holding up to get their attention? I know dogs are hard to focus unless there is something in it for them!

i have got 6 red belly piranhas i have had them for about 8 months now, i originally had 8 they were all about 2 inches long apart from two of them which were slightly smaller about 1.5 inches long.
unfortunatly after a couple of months the two smaller ones got eaten by the others!! (survival of the fittest i guess)
but now i have got six healthy piranhas measuring about six inches long and apart from the odd fight they live together pretty happilly.
sorry about the picture quality they dont seem to want to keep still for the camera!!
