I can't even remember the last time I used this aging piece of media... I suspect they will be obsolete in less than a year.

Though, actually, I nearly didn't put a floppy on this rig...which would have been a bummer when I put it together, the SATA driver is on floppy.

i got a modular floppy drive for my laptop, i have used it once, and that was to see if it worked. 20 bucks wasted there, although, i did get a free usb memory stick 128 meg, i lost it and got a replacement of 256 meg....hehe

I really can't remember either. I put all the software I need for my system on a boot CD, (Bios flashing and all that). Makes it easier that way, everything in one place. But my wife has one in her system.

Y'know, it had been a while since I used one, too, until someone gave me one with some Photoshop work they wanted done. Good thing Keith had just installed the drive on his computer, because typically neither one of us has one.

I use one here and there. Tend to store my resume, and other importan word docs on floppy, store my favorites on the same floppy disk as well, so I can re-install them after a format, etc. Used it the other day to run a DOS check on my cd-burner(it's toast btw, time for a dvd burner I guess) It'll still read cd's but it turns every blank cd into a coaster...the detect/read timing is messed up...not worth fixing anymore because they're so damned cheap, and this one's really old. MemTest, Win 98 boot disk, and a few other tools come to mind as well. Have a formatting tool that's used by the military up here to wipe out hard drives on another floppy as well....etc...I'll keep installing one.

Use that burner of your's and put that stuff on a CDR... hehe... floppies tend to die after ya know 10 uses or so.. I hate the things.. I only trust them a few times
I can't count the number of times I've gone and taken pictures of 3 or 4 cars, come back to my office, pull the floppy out of the Mavica, put it in my floppy drive.... and have it tell me "Invalid MS-DOS Function" or "Error reading from disk"... :( (Back.. outside.. again... I have to move them to a different spot for the pictures)

I still use a floppy to backup my financial info from MS Money. They come in handy from time to time.

I would recommend something like a Zip drive for that. Like Silenze said they seem to fail to regularly, to trust leaving my financial data stored on one.

Found old Falcon 3 floppies in a box the other day, so I installed it just for the memories.

I do have a floppy sitting in my dest drawer for when I need to do a fresh install of windows on my SATA drives. But I haven't had one installed in my computer in years. One of these days I'll get off my lazy butt and slip stream my install CD so I can get rid of the floppy all together..............

Ive transfered everything onto Jumpdrives. The only time I use floppy's is when were required to use them in a lab at college. i.e. when we need a boot disk. 1.44mb just seems sooo small!
