I hope this doesn't delay the game a year, like it did with HL2 :(
QUOTE:
A version of the eagerly awaited Xbox game has appeared on net piracy sites and newsgroups, almost a month before making it into the shops.
In a statement, Microsoft said it was investigating the leak, adding that it was "aggressively pursuing the source of this illegal act".

"It added that the piracy would not affect the release of Halo 2"

HALO 2 already went gold, its at the manufacturers, there's no way that it could be set back. Not to mention the fact that Bungie only set ONE date for the release, November 9th, 2004

Heh...Doom3 went Gold last year, and was only release a few months ago. So you can't rely on that as a guide as to when it will be released.
BTW:
Thanks Kattikawn, I didn't catch that on the first read.

But this is doom 3, and I'm willing to bet that it wasn't a leak after gold that delayed it. There's no reason that it would.

My 2 cents: Doom3 went gold July 2004... the leak was long before that.... like July 2002, so no it had nothing to do with the delay...

Doom 3 and HL 2 are done by companies who are legendary for being late with Doom 3 and HL2. Bungie is always punctual with their release dates. Second, 'Going Gold' means that the production copy has been sent to the manufacturer. There's no reason at all that a leaked version would delay the game at this point.

i don't know why you are upset about it. it won't change anything for you. the game will still be released online. it just means that all of the pirates will have it a couple weeks early :-)

not to rain on anybodys parade, but, well, i played Halo and wasnt all that impresses... could be because i suck at it, but eh... just didnt see that much in it to make it so attention-worthy. :?

It was outdated when it was released to the xbox, but first of it's kind to hit a console. It was WAY outdated when it Finally got released for PC, and had horrible hardware support... can't say I blame you for having a poor impression, but for what it is, it's actually a great game. (It got the game type out to a Lot more people than PC was reaching... and even probably dragged some over to the PC for more games similar to it..) Part 2 should be pretty good... I watched a big video presentation on it and stuff... :)

hehe... heard a guy in my programming class talking about it. he played halo 2 at some tournament not too long ago. said it is a lot like the first, but a lot better. most of the gameplay physics are the same.

yeh, the physics were pretty good to begin with, so just needed a little tweaking there.
the big thing about Halo was the it was one of the first FPS for a console system that looked "clean". It's not quite a thrill to all of us, cause we've played every FPS for PC that has been released.
actually if you buy a new xbox and a new copy of halo it looks to be that it runs smoother and cleaner than the original release. i played it on my brother's xbox the other day and it seems reflections have gotten better. halo also had a really good story line to it along with great gameplay. i think that's why it was such a hit.
