Heh, that's because were still in division 2, which basically makes us the best team no one's ever heard of. I figure we'll probably be a D1 team before I graduate.

Marshall Univ of course ;-)

I don't always get to watch their games, but I like to see Boston College and UNC win too.

true true... the game is being hyped a lot around here, since our head coach was the former UT offensive coordinator 6 yrs ago. this is the first meeting between the two teams since.

I am a big Marshall and Ohio State fan. Ohio State is my fav - even though they are sucking it up this year.

Actually OSU and U of M are both overrated teams.

So thats why Ohio State had a record number of people drafted to the NFL. I thought it was just because they were good.

still overrated. they were NEARLY beaten by MU this year. if Nugent hadn't saved their ass, you'd be singing a different tune.

MU sucks, if it wasnt for their Defense, the would be nothing. Puritt needs to fire their offensive cordinator or something, Stan Hill is a POS and I think everyone saw against Kent State when they sat him down and put Gochner (cant spell) in, Marshall got a touchdown from him in his first drive against Kent State. I hate stan hill.

lol, this is the first year that their defense has been better than their offense in a long time (even last year was about neck and neck, they sucked on both sides).

i'll agree about Stan though. he just doesn't have it. you can coach him all you want and give him all the medicine/doctors in the world, but he just doesn't have it in him to take MU where they need to be. Gochneaur (i think that's the right sp) can at least move outside of the pocket, but let's face it, he is worthless at a pass any more than 15 yards. things may or may not get brighter in the next couple of years.

We have Skinner coming up who was red shirted last year and hasn't seen any playing time this year. Hopefully he'll get his hands on the ball before the year is over, which is quite possible if Stan can't get his injuries under control and Gochneaur doesn't improve the >15yard passes. Then we have this year's red shirted freshman. He's supposed to be better than Pennington and Leftwich both, but if he can't keep his ass out of jail, we might be hurting when it comes down to him.

Still though, I'll admit the defense has been rockin this year. Goddard has just flat out pounded QB after QB and doesn't show any sign of letting up. Keyes has most WR's nervous to even go up for a ball in the air, and when they do go for one, getting the wind knocked out of them is close in their future.

Hopefully we can squeeze through this year winning the MAC and get ready for Conference USA next year. Despite loosing the first 3 straight to Troy, OSU, and Georgia, we are at least winning now, though i'm not sure we're playing any better than we were before.

Regardless though, you can't say MU sucks, especially just since your a VT fan. We have hung with every big team we have faced, especially in the last 3-4 years. Beating a team like Kansas when they are ranked 6th in the nation is no small feat. Then toss in the fact that we have hung very close to teams like Tennessee, VT, OSU, and Georgia and you can't really say we suck. Besides, every conference we have joined in the past decade has practically bowed before us. There is always a couple rebuilding/adjusting years and the rest of the time spent in that conference is dedicated to us flat out pounding the other conference teams. Sure next year will be rough for us in Conference USA, but within 3 years, we'll be looking for some other conference to go to so that we can have some competition. It's just a shame most of the other sports are getting massacred as a result of us moving to larger conferences.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that we had to start our football program over from scratch after the 1970 plane crash that killed the entire team/staff. Find me another school that went from nothing to competing with top 10 teams in less than 35 years. Yeh, we suck alright [smilie=bduh.gif] [smilie=violent1.gif]

OSU does suck this year, but the lost a boat load of players. They are still better than most teams out there. Both Marshall and OSU are in a rebuilding phase right now. I just dont understand why eveyone is so eager to bash everyone else. [smilie=violent1.gif] I like College football, and those are my teams. Its not like anyone bashing on them is going to change that.

Go Hurricanes!!...... Oh wait........

Ehh, it wasnt exactly directed at you, just seems like any opinions in the forum get bashed. I dont mind a little debate, but things just get out of hand around here sometimes. Its a little frustrating.

Back to the subject at hand though, college football is my favorite sport. There is sooo much passion all the time - you dont have to wait till the playoffs and whatnot. Baseball and Basketball seasons are too long. College football rocks.

VT may not be in their prime right now, WVU was supposed to be all that this year and couldnt beat them. They got lucky last year, when VT comes here next year, they will be tough for marshall to play against. Just wait and see. I called it before and I will call it again, Marshall wont beat VT

quite possible that we won't beat them, but you can't deny that it is a decent possibility anymore. 10 years ago, everyone would've laughed at the thought of MU beating VT, but i gaurantee you that VT will be preparing pretty hard for MU next year. like the phrase goes, "Any given Sunday" (or saturday for college games)
