That's because if Wal-Mart cut back on music, industry sales would suffer severely -- though Wal-Mart's shareholders would barely bat an eye. While Wal-Mart represents nearly twenty percent of major-label music sales, music represents only about two percent of Wal-Mart's total sales. "If they got out of selling music, it would mean nothing to them," says another label executive. "This keeps me awake at night."

Wal-Mart has been forcing major labels to cut prices on CD's. You may hate Wal-Mart, but everybody does some good.. :D

If you read it carefully, you'll see this isn't WalMart fighting for /getting lower prices because of some moral stance about the RIAA, this is about Wal-Mart's usual bulldozer tactics to cut prices, they same thing they do regularly to many suppliers, and their employees.
I've never bought anything from Wally world and probably never will

Oh no, I don't think that walmart is doing this for some moral reason, but that's beside the point. The point is that the RIAA is getting screwed, which in my book is always a happy day. :)

agreed. i went from buying artists music if i liked their work to not buyin ANY music now. the only way i'll buy an artists music at this point is if they don't have the RIAA behind them. personally, i just don't feel like putting another music industry executive/artist/label CEO into another ferrari.

let's do the math:
DVD - provides anywhere from 3-12 hours of entertainment
$10-20
CD - provides 70-80 minutes of entertainment if the artist is being generous
$10-20

i wonder where my money is going to go?
