Nice OC, do you have watercooling?
jester

no, all air cooling. I just have the jet 4 from cooler master with some custom mounted fans, 1 4cm pushing air in at the bottom rear, 1 4cm pushing in on the side right next to the cpu, 1 2cm mounted in the 3 1/2" bay pulling air out and 1 6cm taking up two 5 1/4" bays pulling air out, the 2cm and 6cm also server as my hd cooling fans. doesnt look pretty but my hd's stay around 29c-32c.

ive hit 3.4g but it freezes in windows within 10mins or less and i my mobo audio wont work. ive watched my voltages and everything except the vcore stays within spec, the vcore drops down quite a bit under load to somewhere around .5-.7v under what i have it set. i duno if i just need a bigger psu or what.

Yeah, really nice for air cooling [smilie=notworthy.gif].

Nice OC. I've kept my P4 Oc'd at 3.3 (its a 2.8) because I've had trouble keeping it perfectly stable above that, even with some pretty strong voltage increases. I can run 3.3 at stock voltages, which I prefer to do anyways.
BTW, are you running linux is that SS or just have a keramik Windows theme?

Im runin win 2k3 server workstation with a knoppix theme.
thats an awsome o/c. ive tried goin down and all the way up to 1.85v and mine still freezes or reboots by itselft when i go up to 3.4g which is just a 1mhz increase in my bios :eat this:

1.85V on air cooling??? That sounds like you are asking for trouble to me... that is way above spec and definitely beyond what would be recommended with air cooling. Are you sure that your temp reading are correct??? Keep in mind that the only temp that really matters is the load temp.

thats why i dont have it runin at 3.4g, load temp is like 58-59c :barf: which is way more than what i like. at my current o/c i see around 54c at load with my cpu at 1.625v.
still more than what i like to see but im not gona spend the cash on a water setup, i have more usefull things i can spend my cash on like more memory and a wd raptor

lol, might be investin in a new p4 soon too ;-)
nah, seriously though, that voltage is extremely high for a p4. i'm surprised that your temps are not idling in the high 50's and load hitting around 70C. food for thought....i'm running watercooling and still only push around 1.65V to the core. I can push 1.675V and it still be stable, but anything more than that just gives me added heat with no more stability gain.

I got messing around a lil more and decided to bump it down to 3.35g and keep it there since it lowered my idle temp down to 37-38c.
cant be havin the pc that host my web site off of be unstable or hot since its up 24/7/365 [smilie=5bouncy.gif]

are you runin a northwood or prescott?

northwood....prescotts just run too hot. mine is a 2.8C @ 3.6Ghz

I was gona get a 3g prescott, mainly because of the 1M level 2 cache but the heat problem turned me off. I am going to get a new cpu for this sometime or another just cause I would like a 800mhz fsb, mine unfortunutly runs on the slower 533 :???:

I knew that (searched their site right before I posted that), but figured I'd ask incase jester knew of a beta/alpha/cvs/I'm leet and I coded it myself for it/ resource.
BTW, yes, I was up till the timestamp posted on that, sadly (full time work + full time school == no sleep);

lol tech, i KNOW what no sleep is like. i use to drive truck and do anywhere from 3,000-4,500 miles a week just runing from wisconsin back to the east coast within a 5-6 day period.
just an overpaid tourist

An equation I found out the hard way a year ago.
