Hey, just wondering what you folks do for your tower (or cube i suppose). I know playa has had his on a desk and on the floor and I have too.
Would keeping it down on the floor yeild dustier case then ontop? Both inside and out.

well Ex-Cuse me! I was answering the title! :P
I'd say the floor is likely dustier, since its... well... the floor.

floor is dustiest... dust floats in the air and slowly slowly settles, so... yeah on the desk is less dustier, I keep mine on a little rolling platform that's maybe 2.5 inches tall.. stays clean, I'm in there quite often though ;)

On top of desk, I've kept it under the desk, but you trap too much heat under their after a while. My legs would sweat... heh.
Plus, defaults alot of the purpose of making it all pretty when you can't even see it all that well.

On the floor. And yes it gathers dust like crazy. I have to open it up and dust off the heatsink and other gadgets with a makeup brush every few weeks.

I agree with on top of teh desk... I keep mine up there, and it has a,most no dust in it. I guess maybe the filters have a little something to do with that too, but really they aren't that good.

Top of desk...it gets so dusty there, I couldn't even imagine how dusty it would get on the floor. Probably would get a lot of dog hair, too.
On the floor, but i have a passive zalman cooler on my vidcard, and dust filters on my fans, so doesn't gathers dust like crazy. besides i don't have the space on my desk for my computer [smilie=happy3.gif]
desk... it serves as a room heater in the winter.

Mine sits on the base of the desk (about three inches off the floor) & have to clean the filters about once a month.

Floor, I could stack it on-top of the dell but i figure every little bit of cool air helps.
I dont have any filters so after 3 weeks or so it needs to be cleaned.

I haven't tried it, but stretching nylon hose (i.e. panty hose) over the fan is supposed to work very well.

Yeah I have a fairly huge case but I know it does fit on the desk cause thats where it was. My case is the same one that was reviewed here at ocia however mine has a 80mm fan cut into the window. And of course is black not that retched green

Mine sits on the desk with the water box directly under it on a shelf. The pantyhose trick works wonders, we used them on all our computers during the first Gulf War..............
