nope, haven't needed to. personally, i like the security it provides me with not cracking the core. especially since i usually have a little extra torque on my HS

Yea there are quite a few things that can go wrong when removing the IHS. If someone doesnt know what theyre doing can be enough and slip, there goes the knife and cuts into the pcb.

I have tried it wit a celeron 2.2g and it lowered my temp about 3c.


Its just one of those "do I really want to risk buying another cpu to get a drop of a few degrees"

very true of most mods, for instance when everyone was lapping their HS AND the CPU.
