6600 GT AGP before Christmas?

Anyone know if the 6600 versions will be available on AGP before Christmas? I had heard a while back that they would, but have not heard anything since.

I can only find the PCI-e here G2, however there is this very sweet 6800LE with 128 mb available here....... Isn't that a better idea playafly? I don't when and if they'll make an AGP version.
I think alternate made a mistake, because they are the only one that's got him.

the 6800LE is out of my price range. I am looking for something right around $200 USD.

I read in a HardOCP article a few months back that the 6600's would be under $200 and ready for AGP by xmas time...

Id realy like to get this instead of an aging 5900XT...

In talking about AGP versions of recently released cards, NVIDIA has given us an update on the status of the AGP version of the highly anticipated GeForce 6600GT. We should have samples by the end of this month and NVIDIA is looking to have them available for purchase before the end of November. There are currently no plans for retail availability of the PCI Express GeForce 6800 Ultras - those are mostly going to tier 1 OEMs.

on newegg.com, it shows the 6800LE being 257 bucks, whereas the 6600GT AGP will be right at 200 bucks. big difference there.

nope both only 128mb, but the LE is bulk. If it's €225 here, it should be the same or less in dollars there.

Usually the computer stuff is cheaper in the USA, so eventhough 1 euro is about 1.28 USD, you could still probably find it for the same amount of dollars in those areas. Although this was all before Bush slashed your economy and got the dollar to an all time low. :roll:

yeh, i would go with the 6600GT personally. the 6800LE will be too limited and teh 6600 has more memory, but won't run as fast in terms of clock speed.

I may be wrong, but I believe ithey all run the same on AMD or Intel. So go with whatever you like. My personal preference is Nvidia (no flame wars please)

well, rumor has that if you got nforce mobo and nvidia's graphic, it runs faster and better since it's from the same company.

Generally, graphic card company has gotten to the point that no matter which card you choose, nvidia or ati, it will work equally well (not always the case in the past). What's true is that amd64 is better at the games and intel pentium 4 is not. Also, nvidia geforce 6x lines are better at most games while ATI is better on few of them. Now, of course, I am excluding the highest end of ATI.

good point. just look at nvidia and doom 3. performs better on nvidia cards. on the other hand, look at half life 2... performs better on ati cards

On the other hand, I think the midrange card, currently, geforce 6600gt is the unbeatable. It's the best bang for the bucks.

Rumor, pretty much all rumor, it's been tested.. there are gains and losses in different situations..

That doesn't make any sense, you include 68xx's but exlude the "highest end of ATI" -- those would be the only cards competing with the 68xx's, the X800's...........

well, in order for the graphic card to run at 8x, the mobo and the grapihc card need ot be both capable of running at 8x. You said your old mobo is capable of running at 8x, so i would say yes you will be able to get the full 8x on the old mobo.
Just a side not, if your mobo does not support 8x, that does not mean that geforce 6600gt will not work on it. It just mean that it will not run at 8x, it may run at 4x or 2x or even 1x (depend on how fast your mobo allows). Most of the cards are backward compatable, although I do think there are some really really old mobo that cannot take modern cards because of voltage difference.

Not so... The sockets are physically different from say a 2x AGP vs. 8x AGP

However, if your mobo supports 8x and if the 6600 is AGP then it will work fine (sorry haven't really been keeping up with the nVidia cards enough to know if the 6600 is AGP or PCIe).

Silenze, your right on the AGP. For some reason I was thinking the old Voodoo5 cards were 2x, when in fact were only 1x.
