Hey guys new here, I just put together my first pc and am for the most part very pleased with it. But money started becoming an issue and I couldnt quite get exactly what wanted. But here is where I am, athlon xp 3500+,
msi k8n neo2 platinum,
seagate 7200 200 gb sata HD,
msi fx5900xt-vtd128,
2x256 geil economy ddr400,
liteon 52x burner,
aspire xdreamer II case with stock 350w psu.

Now what would you guys go for next? besides ram another 512 is in order im pretty sure. Not quite satisfied with farcry performance on this guy but I think I can blame my videocard and ram for that, otherwise I love it. Does great with doom 3, figure that one out :)
My order of attack is more of the same ram, better cpu heatsink and fan, and then possibly buying my buddies radeon 9800 pro 256mb.

Any input you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, every once in a while, completely random times, i get a bluescreen -driver irq not less or equal doesnt tell me what driver or anything, but I turn off my USB and havent gotten it since, anyone make sense of this? Newest firmware and drivers for everything.
Quite a large post for my first one eh :)

well, RAM is certainly need to be upgraded if you want to play game. graphic card should be good enough for today's game (even doom). If you got money, then you can go for 6800 or even the x800. One thing I would suggest is getting hte dvdrw (it's hot today:)).

blue screen, did you update all the drivers, you mobo bios and windows. See if that helps.

My guess is your PSU, isn't up to the job of keeping up with your new hardware.
Try upgrading to a minimum of a 400watt PSU from a high quality MFR.

Id have to agree with underground. That 350w is probly fine till you start to overclock. I ended up runin 2 psu's on this pc cause my 500w wasnt big enough. Dont skimp on a psu, spend at least $100. If you get a cheapy youll regret it :!:

and the generic 350 watt power supply that comes with the X-Dreamer II is about as cheapy as you can get...
