From what I've read, the 3500+'s can be easily taken up to 2.5 with air cooling. Can I get this high with a retail hsf? From what I've heard, the thermalright xps are the best, but they're really pricey, $40+ without a fan. What would be a good but cheaper alternative?

I would check out some reviews on this stuff... but that's really all newegg has to offer in that price range.

The Silent Boost isn't a bad cooler...quiet, does a pretty decent job of cooling.
But, whatever you get...you will wish you had spent the extra bucks for a Thermalright. I'm still wishin'.
