probably a stuipd question, but i havent found a clear answer on the net yet...

which is better? 6800oc or a regular 6800? i figured instead of spending around 240 for the 6600GT, i can drop off a few more bucks and pick up the next highest model. newegg is showing the xfx 6800 for like $270. best buy has a deal on the 6800oc and half life 2, for around the same price after rebates...

Isn't the "6800 oc" just an overclocked-out-of-the-box 6800 ?

yeah, after doing some more research i think the OC is just a slightly overclocked version of the regular 6800.

next question... from what ive gathered, asides from clock speeds and more memory, the only big difference between the 6800 and 6800GT is that the 6800 has only 12 pipelines open while the 6800GT has all 16 open... correct?

Nope, 4 more pipelines, one more vertex shader, and GDDR3 memory on the GT and Ultra...
