Ive been thinkin about gettin a celeron D for my girl pc since hers only has a regular celeron in it.
Ive noticed that the celeron D's use the prescot core so can any tell me how well they o\c and what kinda temps they run :?:

i haven't seen where anyone has overclocked them. remember that celeron's are the bottom of the bucket for intel. they are generally the chips that don't make the cut and have less l2 cache.
this being said though, i remember when celerons used to overclock very well, in fact often more than 50% overclock. that was back in the days of the original celerons though, so i don't know for sure what you'd be looking at now.

Yea I understand they are the less quality chips that come off the line. Cant ignore that newegg has the celeron D 2.93g for $124 and the cpu in her machine is the old slow celeron 2.2g.
The best o\c ive managed with that so far is like 2.8g, mainly cause its a 400mhz fsb and at that the only memory divider is 3:2 which maxes the memory out at 2.8g.

Naw its not the mobo, have the same one in hers as what is in my pc actually. The abit is7-e, thats the only mem divider it has for 400mhz fsb cpu's.
