I am trying to get my Windows XP installation to be recodnised by Fedora Core 3 .

No matter what i do i cant get anything , i dont see Windows XP because its not there at boot screen .

I can see the NTFS partion when im installing but after that i can see nuthing , not even when im in Fedora .

Is this because Fedora cant REad/Write NTFS partions ?

Do i have to change the Windows partion to FAT32 or something like VFAT i think the Fedora website said .

Any help with this would be great

Thank You

The linux kernel recently picked up read/write support for NTFS without the "DANGEROUS" tag (2.6.9 for instance), has been able to read/write FAT32 for a long time.

You're going to need to figure out which boot loader you're using (sorry, I'm not a Redhat guy), and go from there.. it's going to be a change in it's configuration, read up on it though... cause you can configure dual boots a few different ways.

Im using " Grub " bootloader .

So it should be ok to use NTFS ?

I run SuSE Linux 9.1 Pro and it sees the NTFS partion fine , it can even read files from there , becasue i have all my media files stored in the Win XP partion on my other machine , and i play movies, mp3's from the Windows partion in SuSE .

I just cant get Fedora Core 3 to dual boot . :(

another option is fix the bootloader so you only boot up into xp and load linux onto vmware so you can use linux and xp at the same time.

Ive ran knoppix thru vmware, actually ran decent and wasnt too much slower than bootin into the cd. Now ms virtual machine is REALLY slow compared to vmware.

Thanks for all the help , I managed to get it to work , but i done it after i fomatted my whole drive , then relized it must be something to do with GRUB .

Because i downloaded a program called osl200 Boot Manager and it gave me a choice to boot to Linux or Windows straight away , not a problem 1st time

So i dunno , Im running Fedora Core 3 64bit on AMD64 3200+ S939 mabye i set it up wrong [Proberly] or theres a problem with Core 3 and GRUB .

Anyway , i got it .
