i just installed my new mobo and cpu and i installed windows xp pro.
when i start my computer, it shows the LAN Party logo then it will go to blank screen, black. HDD led will turn off, it seems like my comp is off but after 30 secs or so, HDD led turns on then it loads to windows... why does it take forever to load to windows while the HDD led is off. Also, when you want to restart, it restarts but wont turn on, but the comp is on... but my monitor goes to like idle...

on my bios
first boot : removable
2nd boot : hard disk

**edit**
btw, DFI LAN PARTY UT 250GB nForce3 and AMD 64 3000+
Maxtor 160GB, 512MB PC3200

Do you have the latest bios version on that board? That would be where I would start.

also what are the rest of your system specs?
first problem sounds like boot virus or virus scan (actually any CPU intense task at boot) or hardware
second one points to video card hardware or config problem (look for a bios or graphics setting something like "reset video on restart")

reread your post, what sort of "removable" is the primary boot device? CD? USB flash?

I have a board that does the same thing...my problem is that the motherboard wont POST. I dont know if you have a system speaker hooked up, but when mine turns on I get a single beep (duh). When I would restart, everything would spin up, no beep, no post, and of course no video. I still dont know what it is, updating the bios seemed to help it a little but it still does it on occasion. But I would start by flashing the bios on the MB to the latest version. See how that goes.

it could be something pretty simple. like t-shirt said, what is the removable drive? i always put mine on hdd first, and nothing else for the others.

also, (not familiar with that board) but maybe it is trying to load RAID drivers or something and it pauses to search for a RAID setup. i had to turn this function off on one of my older boards, as it would take a while to search for the drives (which i didnt own to begin with)

ok it seems like the restarting thingy is fine now, i could restart normally now... just the HDD light turning off and taking forever to load windows is the only problem... any idea? on my removable, it says floppy disks
