Internet Explorer broken

internet explorer on my machine is broke....aint working when surfin the net. gotta use kazaa to surf the web...xp pro, celeron 1.7G, 320 ram. can't do windowsupdates as well....but can use kazaa, ICQ, msn and yahoo messengers no problems....Rogers highspeed internet shared on a D-link router.....know for sure dlink router and highspeed is good and that is what I am using at the moment.

Is it mucked up with Spyware/Adware or a virus... or what ? (ie; tried hijackthis, or adaware, or spybot search & destroy, this is assuming you can browse that much of course..)

Tried "repair internet explorer" from the Add/Remove Programs list/Internet Explorer (then add/remove) listing ?

Tried the IE6 sp1a setup to reinstall or repair ?

Or tried Mozilla FireFox ? (could use this to get the tools listed above and try some things.. or just use it)

I'd recommend trying the 'repair internet explorer' if you can, if not, I would download Firefox and grab those utilities.. give them a try, see what you come up with.. (hijackthis can set things back to IE's defaults which might help.. shooting in the dark without knowing any details.. hehe)

Try spybot and ad-aware first before HiJack this, it's a good program but sometime encourges you to remove needed files.
Try the repair or remove and redownload the full install
