Default 2008 OCIA.net Holiday Contest!

The Holiday Season is a time of giving, and that is exactly what we here at OCIA.net are all about. We have teamed up with OCZ Technology to create a unique and fun Holiday Contest for all of our readers. One winner will take home the entire prize package, consisting of the following gear:

OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel 2GB Memory Kit.

OCZ Alchemy Series Elixir Keyboard

OCZ Behemoth Regulator Mousepad

And last but not least, a new OCZ T-shirt in your choice of size.

To enter, you must be a registered member in the OCIA.net Forums. If you are not already a member, you can register for free by Clicking Here. Once you are registered, you will need to take one of the five popular holiday jingles below and reword it using computer geek terms.

Example:

"Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house
my PCs were overclocked, pushed well beyond stock
"

Some of the jingles have been cut down to only a few paragraphs since they were too long for use here. The key to making a good jingle is to try and stick to the syllable count used in the original.

------------------------------------

Twas The Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In the hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there

The children were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.
Mom in her kerchief and I in my cap
Had just settled down for a long winters nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window I flew with a flash
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash

------------------------------------
Jingle Bells

Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

------------------------------------

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul,
With a corncob pipe and a button nose,
And two eyes made out of coal.
Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale, they say,
He was made of snow but the children
know how he came to life one day.
There must have been some magic in that
Old silk hat they found.
For when they placed it on his head,
He began to dance around.

O, Frosty the snowman
Was alive as he could be,
And the children say he could laugh
And play just the same as you and me.
Thumpetty thump thump,
Thumpety thump thump,
Look at Frosty go.
Thumpetty thump thump,
Thumpety thump thump,
Over the hills of snow.

------------------------------------

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

------------------------------------

Let It Snow

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've bought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bying,
But as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

-------------------------------------

Once your jingle is complete, simply post it here for everyone to see! You can only select and recreate a single jingle - multiple entries from a single user are not allowed.

The contest will run from December 3 until December 23, 2008. You must be 13 years or older to enter, as per our forum rules. Once the winners have been selected, their shipping information will be passed along to OCZ for prize shipment. Shipping will be paid by OCZ to winners anywhere in the world! OCIA.net staff and immediate family members are not eligible for entry.

Of course I can't enter, but thought I'd throw the first one up here. <EDIT>>>well, the second one, the first one went up while I was editing.

The Day Before the LAN

Twas the day before the LAN and my rigs were all ready,
The PSUs were checked, the +12V running steady.
The LCDs were all wiped, fingerprints removed with care,
In preparation for the headshots that soon would be there.

My processor overclocks were Prime95 stable,
With zip-ties and patience I hid all the cables.
The coolers and fans were all cleaned just right,
With alcohol and Q-Tips, no dust in sight.

My video cards were all overclocked to the max,
All carefully checked for no artifacts.
The ice chest was filled nearly to the brink,
With lots of snacks, and my favorite energy drink.

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the internet is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let us surf! Let us surf! Let us surf!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've bought some games and no stopping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let us play! Let us play! Let us play!

When we finally start up right
How I'll hate going out without a bang
But if you'll really game it right,
All the way home I'll be blown(via rocket launcher).

The internet is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're being fragged,
But as long as your my team mate,
Let us game! Let us gameow! Let us game!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL! AND TO ALL A GOOD GAME!(night :P)

Twas the night before Nvision and all through the house
Not a peripheral was connected, not even a mouse
My computer was stacked by the front door with care
In the hopes that Jen-Hsun Huang would perhaps be there

The LCD was nestled all snug in its box
While visions of OCZ booth babes danced in my head.
Parents still sleeping and I in my car
Had just settled down for a long mornings drive.

When in downtown San Jose there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my car to see what was the matter
Away to the convention center I sprinted with a flash
Threw open the doors and said "NOOO!" as my laptop shut down from a crash

Let's Download

Oh the torrent out there is spiteful,
Illicit downloading, delightful
To the MPAA our song is so:
Let 'em go! Let it flow! Let it grow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
Those release groups and their rampant cop'ying.
The peer to peer world is enthused,
Don't abuse, sit and schmooze, or you'll lose!

When you've sorted out what to do,
I'll be waiting at the end of the line,
And when you offer respect anew,
I'm sure to repay you in kind.

The world is slowly changing,
The fiber optic cables are laying,
While legislation brings new fear,
Where we'll go, no one knows, this new year.

Apple, the red-nosed brat
had a very shiny OS.
And if you ever used it,
you would even say it blows.

All of the other Operating Systems

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Steve Jobs came to say:
"Apple with your OS so bright,
won't you Build my iPhone tonight?"

Then all the Operating Systems loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Apple the red-nosed brat,
you'll go down in history!

Frosty the Poor Tech.
Frosty the Poor Tech., was a saddened little geek.
With a Packard Bell PC from Hell
That he just couldn’t tweak.
Frosty the Poor Tech. is behind the power curve
He couldn’t take his 486 to LANs
How would he ever have the nerve?
There must have been some slow RAM in that old SX they say.
For when he tried to boot it up,
it didn’t take all day!

O, Frosty the Poor Tech.
Was as fast as he could be
All the gamers say he could LAN & play
But not as fast as you & me!
Chumety chump chump
Chupety chump chump
Look at Frosty go.
Chumpety chump chump
Chumety chump chump
With a PC so slow!

Default TF2 Delight

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire of my CPU is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let us game! Let us game! Let us game!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've got a Steam account for shopping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let us game! Let us game! Let us game!

When we finally have the onslaught tonight,
I'll join my team and strafe left and right!
But if you'll really won't uber me,
I'll sticky jump to a safe height.

The pyro is slowly dieing,
But my friend, you still are frying,
Let us respawn and keep on trying,
Let us game! Let us game! Let us game!
